Tom Brady Reveals He Previously Explored NFL Comeback
Tom Brady looked into returning to the NFL, but the league was not interested.
In an interview with CNBC this week, the seven-time Super Bowl champion said he reached out about the possibility of unretiring a second time and was turned away.
“I actually have inquired, and they don’t like that idea very much,” Brady said. “We explored a lot of different things, and I’m very happily retired.”
Brady last played in the 2022 season. He and a partner acquired a 10% ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders on October 15, 2024, and a return to playing would have required him to sell that stake under league rules.
Brady described his current role with the Raiders as a strategic advisory one, saying his phone is always available to anyone in the organization who needs it.
“I want to see everyone succeed, bring a winning kind of culture to Las Vegas and bring the Raiders back to glory,” Brady said.
Beyond his ownership role, Brady has been in the Fox Sports broadcast booth as the network’s lead NFL analyst for the past two seasons under a 10-year, $375 million deal. Last weekend he also participated in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, throwing a touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs more than 1,000 days after his last NFL game.
Brady said the flag football experience actually reinforced his contentment with retirement.
“I loved being out there playing in the flag game,” Brady said. “But if anything, that game reconfirmed to me that I’m very happy in my retirement.”
Brady previously said he would never rule out competing in flag football at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, though he called the possibility unlikely.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
